Data protection statement
Data protection statement for the applicants of the programmme "AFRIKA KOMMT! - An Initiative of German Industry for Future Leaders from Africa" on the storage and use of personal data by GIZ in Düsseldorf, OE 3910.
As the protection of personal data is very important for GIZ, this declaration explains what data relating to the applicants is stored and the purpose for which it is used.

- The personal data required for the application phase and assessment center (family name, first name, date, place and country of birth, nationality, gender, personal address, E-Mail address, phone and mobile number, profession, copy of passport), and any other data (e.g. certificates, etc.) forwarded to GIZ by the applicant will be stored on GIZ servers and servers of the programme.
- GIZ AFRIKA KOMMT! Team and all representatives of the partner companies mentioned in the announcement are allowed to access and download the applications via the application tool to select the candidates for the assessment center.
- For the implementation of the assessment center AFRIKA KOMMT! GIZ staff within the division OE 3910 is authorized to forward the above mentioned personal data (dependent on the respective context) to the following organizations / entities:
- Representatives of the partner companies to select their participants (personal contacting)
- Consultants of GIZ for implementing the application phase and assessment center
- GIZ offices in Africa to logistical support (internet connection, reimbursements)
- Legal basis for processing is your consent to this statement.
- The data will be used for the above-mentioned purposes exclusively in the context of the programme. Any other use will always be dependent on the applicants consent being obtained again.
- The personal data of those, who have not been invited to the assessment center, will be deleted in November 2022.
- The personal data (i.e. the application) of those, who have been invited to the assessment center, will be deleted 2 years after confirming this data protection statement.
Rights of the persons affected
The person accepting this statement is entitled to enquire about his/her personal data, to have the data corrected if necessary, and to demand that the data be erased. The data will then be erased.
The consent given to use personal data for the implementation of the application phase and assessment center can be revoked at any time. If the revocation is made before or during the application phase or assessment center, the participation is then no longer possible.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the responsible data protection supervisory authority. The responsible authority in this case is the German Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI).
Declaration of consent
- I agree that personal data and any other data mentioned above (such as certificates) will be stored on GIZ servers and servers of the programme. It will be accessed by AFRIKA KOMMT! GIZ staff within the division OE 3910.
- I agree that my application will be used by GIZ AFRIKA KOMMT! Team and all representatives of the partner companies mentioned in the announcement in order to implement the application phase and assessment center.
